theposts_ beyond borders - part 2 my blog v1.05.06.05 the language. not an easy one to learn i tell you. but whats cool is that some of them can really talk damn fast and monotonously. if they're not monotonous then its a consistent repetition of the tone. then they sound like robots so its damn cool. *beep* "something something [108 yen in japanese] something something arigatou gosaimasta" *beep* "something something something [490 yen in japanese] something arigatou gosaimasu" "something something something [598 yen in japanese] something something hai' something arigatou gosaimasu" *takes 600 yen in coins* "something something something [2 yen in japanese] something something something arigatou gosaimasu something something" the somethingsomethings are said very quickly so only japanese ppl themselves can catch it and every sentence it seems ends with an arigatou. and thats just at the gift store. 7-eleven? your own imagination. was quite hard to remember some of the phrases although my group had presented on japanese lang like last week i think. kept mistaking sumimasen for gomennasai (excuse me and sorry respectively. i think.) but here's a tip. if you cant remember a word for something you can either end the english word with an O or U or say the word real quick and quite likely they'll understand. like forku. rice-u. please ah i tried my luck with receipto and plato and i got them right. haha the YEN *draws breath* oo. the yen. for the first three or four days i was just spending what i thought was okay, thinking oh 400 yen's quite cheap and 1200 isnt that bad, and the 3000 on that baseball jersey is just a little above average. till the night before disneyland when i asked mr koh to change $50 fer me and he gave me 3200 yen. WTF. seriously? so i counted. and its actually correct argh waddahell. like 100 yen for $1.60. correct ah sia. shit. i'd spent $300 without knowing it. (not really not knowing it, but id thought it wld be ard like $150 or some amount nowhere near 300.) ohwell. another reason why japan shd consider switching the yen is cos of its funny funny tax and cos of that the many many coins. no, seriously. by disneyland i cldnt fold my walled cos it was bloody packed with one-yens and 10-yens. grrr would it really harm to round off prices??!! if not round down round up also can lar as long as no weird numberss... but i did have quite some fun getting TAKE THAT! blame your country's currency man. okok. enough. we're all even now. my relationship with the yen's okay now. no more unhappiness. odaiba we visited odaiba in the day fer lunch just before shibuya. then everyone got excited when they saw the condomania shop. aiyooo. then they promised each other that they'll visit it after shibuya. the decks shopping centre is quite cool its themed in world war 2 or something. plus there was this soldier dude with a plastered eye. freakeh mans. we had our dinner separate from the rest. as in the special dieters. we had some indian food in some indian restaurant. the food was nice lar. nicer than seafood. =) and while we were eating guess wad. we felt a tremor. woohoo freaky mans. but the food took long to serve so by the time we were done we only had half an hour to shop. the guys were busy with this spastic shooting game. and i saw subra reaching out the the fake shotgun. like so bloody near to the target. and he missed. and we had a good laugh. and louis won a pack of cigarettes. orange flavoured cigarettes. and the shoes there were cheap. although fake. but it looked veh real. but still fake so i din buy them. i don need shoes anyway. except rock climbing ones. *hinthint to whom it may concern* the condom shop. aiyah. spastic la. a lot of funny funny nonsense. as in like. they're not meant for use. if they are, then... shibuya! urgh shibuya was tiring. we overspent and saw a lot of weirdos. purple, green, blue hair. disney shop was too disney. boring. many went to the quiksilver shop which was out of bounds. idiots. there was this nice sports shop selling nice sports stuff. diane was going/driving us crazy at this pearl basketball. committed what's considered a victorian sin: took neoprints. the dunmanians did it. really!! the bus rides other than the guides talking the rate of activity was at a constant zero. it was quite comfy to sleep in. except the part when you are woken up by the sharp spikes of the person next to you's hair. grrr. the trip back from yokohama was one of the most memorable cos we had two hours which i could have really used for catching up with my lack of sleep after the late night plus disneyland. unfortunately the tide was high and bloody darren was saying lame stuff to diane and leanne who kept laughing and which made me even more uncomfortable. stupid D club nonsense made me laugh and accidentally leak. but i didnt ah. take note. i didnt. disneyland to come...
