theposts_ beyond borders - japan my blog v1.05.05.04 yep im back. lotsa things to blog abt. where do i start... trip there woke up vv early. plane trip there was kinda okay lar, was sitting right at the back. watched lemony snickett's. and then fell asleep. then woke up shortly after that cos it suddenly felt bloody hot. played reversi, ate lotsa nuts, looked around to see many watching alexander. you sick freaks. then we arrived. and i panicked cos cldnt find the torn portion of my return ticket. WTF. damn panic siaaaaaaaa. was sweating despite the 18 deg C outside and climacool shirt. and when i did find it it was folded and i got very paranoid. scary. so we got into the coaches. then we played a spastic intro game led by darren. then took pictures. was sitting next to koganti who was fixed to his gba. so it was kinda boring. then we stopped at an r&r where ppl were buying big big chicken (and i bet some pork) sausages. jealous sia... kawaguchi seigaku a very cheap and nice hotel. (k im not even sure if its cheap, but i know the gifts they sold there werent) the ppl were damn hospitable and friendly and understanding considering they - had to put up with 15-year-olds running around at night knocking on each other's doors. - dried our shoes out in the lobby after fuji. the rooms were small and cosy and i was rooming with zq matthias and zhang yang. room 212. and on the last day our room kena blackout. so the whole morning we were walking around either with torches or very very slowly. packing wasn't very fun. the food was, japanese. thats up to you whether its good or bad. but fer us special-dieters it was kinda, fuji ah. mount fuji. the highlight of the trip. the first few parts was okay la. it was very stuffy cos we were wearing our jackets and it was a bit hot. then still got a lot of energy to sing songs and stuff. then as we got higher things got colder, ppl got more tired, rain got heavier, wind got stronger. so by like third fourth and fifth station it was still okay. still got time to talk talk sing songs tell racist jokes. but some, cannot take it already lar. diane's hands were also bloody cold so i gave her my gloves and jomaine was also nice enough to lend me her cap [which proved to be damn useful later on] so when we were at the real fifth station they said we were gonna go to the restaurant up ahead. yes, there was a fake one much to our disappointment. THANKS AH. so we just walked, and walked following someone which we assumed was a guide (turned out it WAS a guide) then like halfway thru the gap btw us and the small group leading us got bigger, and we started to doubt that the small grp were actually guides. so we stopped. dunno what to do. we huddled around. i tried calling the teachers but there was no freaking reception. so me sean matt and a few others decided that we walk back to the fifth station cos we din wanna take any chances. oh yes, speaking of sean, "we'll all DIE if we stay here any longer" great job scaring the hell out of me. and then the rain started to get heavy and the wind really got stronger. baik ahhh. it was bloooooooooooooooooooooooooodddyy cold. started shivering. so we walked back. walk walk walk. some sang victorian anthem. walk summore. then we reached the hut and we just cuddled there and ppl started crying cos it really started to get damn cold. then we just stayed there not knowing what to do, waiting fer the teachers and guides, some cursing them (sorry teachers and guides). so when they DID arrive, they got a van to bring us to the restaurant. ONE minivan. so those who really couldn't take it got on the van first while i stayed with sam and yeejek under the hut. timothy was nice enough to offer some food, though i think that small chunk of wheat bar gave me some confidence. then since it was only one van they said some shd walk to the restaurant. so we started walking, the exact same route we had walked just now, with zhiquan cos he had an umbrella. then on the way picked up sandra who was walking alone in the rain. she had no gloves her head was unprotected her clothes were no thicker than mine. then we walked and shivered together to the restaurant. turns out, we'd been walking the correct route. 1.5 degrees celsius. (lau, 2005) no gloves. very much non-waterproof track pants. climacool shoes (designed with lotsa holes innit to allow rainwater to seep through and drench your socks and feet). pro. ingredients for major batch bonding: foreign mountain (like there's a local, one, pfft) rain strong wind quote: "lightweight jacket/windbreaker" a good mix of students mix.
